Troels Degn

Troels Degn Johansson

Troels Degn Johansson currently enjoys the privilege of heading the Department of Product Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design, and Conservation.  He has been involved in the management and development of design programmes for more than a decade, and in interdisciplinary research into design, aesthetics, and pictorial representation for almost two. His main fields of research include the use and meaning of pictures in design processes, the relationship between art and design, design didactics, and digital design and aesthetics.

His work as a teacher, researcher, and manager is driven by curiosity, passion, and a belief in talents–and by the conviction that design education and research can make a difference to society by combining analytical sensibility and knowledge of process, form, function, and tradition with a deep engagement in organisations, markets, and cultures.
